NO. 5 – 1988 Chevy
While driving home one evening, Gary saw a truck for sale. He called John and asked if he was looking for another truck. His answer was “Not really, but why not have a look.” So the next day Lorin drove to Newtown to check it out. Lorin immediately called and said that it was a 30-year-old truck in mint condition with 10,000 original miles. “Just too good to pass up!” Lorin made the deal on the spot and with that purchased the 5th Super Duper truck ( NO. 5).
We later learned that this truck had been sitting in an upstate New York fire station and was used only infrequently to keep firefighters warm at large fires.
After designing, building and restoring four trucks, this one was easy. All the mistakes were made on the other trucks, so this one was put together with precision and efficiency (and half the cost).
This truck was in perfect shape. Nothing more was needed to be done other than customizing it into a “Super Duper” truck.
